Lolasana

Lolasana:     
 This asana is to be done in sitting position. When the body comes in the complete position of this asana, it can swing like a pendulum of the clock. Hence it is called " lolasana". In this asana, it is required to lift the body with the help of hand in padmasana position. Hence it is called utthit Padmasana.


  • Original Position :

  1. First of all. sit extend both the legs straight.
  2. Put your Hands in the side of thigh.
  3. Make thespine a little straight.
  • Method :
  1. First of all sit in Padmasana. Keep both the hands outside the thigh. Arrange such that the palms lie on the ground and fingers in the opposite direction.
  2. Keep the body as high up as possible with the strength of hands. Be in this position for some time.
  3. Bring down the body again slowly and come in the original position.
  • Points to bear in mind :
  1. In the complete position of asana, keep the neck and sight straight.
  • Benefits :
  1. Organs like arms, chest etc. develop completely. Muscles of the arms become strong.
  2. Helpful in strengthening the wrists, upper back, arms and shoulders. strengthens and massages the abdominal muscles thus improves digestion.
  3. You get rid of idleness and negligence. Organs of the respiratory system are nourished and become more active.
  4. helpful in giving relief to respiratory problems as it exercises and opens up the chest.
  5. This movement is technically an arm balance, so while it requires already strong wrists,it also strengthens the wrists which is wonderful for typists, chefs, grocery clerks, and anyone who utilizes their hands in repetitive motions.
  6. lolasana is fantastic for toning the arms and working the core muscles, but primarily it opens the spine and strengthens even the deep back muscles making it very beneficial for folks struggling with chronic back pain due to spinal compression below the neck
